My queer history includes some hurtful and overreaching think pieces on queer identity, and in this article I reexamine them and apologize for harm done.
Never one to simply accept things as they are, Nick has always questioned the status quo. This curiosity and quest for answers has led him to research a variety of cultural and faith-based issues. Written before major changes in our culture and society, this book is not outdated, but it is dated. That being said, it’s a great book for parents of queer children, or anyone else questioning their convictions on gay marriage.
Does Exodus 20:7 actually tell us not to say “Oh my god”, or have we taken yet another verse out of context and used it to scare and manipulate?
Interspersed among the selfies, stories of queer pride, and stories of bigoted reactions to the month, are discusses on what pride is.
Hollywood’s homophobia may not be something that everyone thinks about, or even agrees with if we’re being honest, but it definitely is a problem.
